Amsterdam - What is yours, should stay yours. Sound logical, but unfortunately is not always the case. With T-Mobile’s new Relax subscription, your unused minutes and texts do stay yours forever. Month after month, year after year, throughout the duration of your Relax subscription.
Some months ago, Saatchi & Saatchi Netherlands set out to shoot T-Mobile’s new TV campaign on the streets of Netherlands with real people. And the one question they had when they hit the streets was this – what would you do with all your extra minutes and texts?
And from the hundreds of people they interviewed on the streets, one man’s answer especially captured their attention.
Meet Martijn - he’s 39, from Durgerdam, and is your man next door.
He lives an ordinary life – a loving girlfriend, day job as a carpenter, and drives a minibus.
Every ordinary day is followed by another ordinary day. Except that one special day – back in 1997.
“I still remember it clearly, like it was yesterday,” Martijn says, “it was the Championship final for the Saturday 1 and my club, the one I play for – Durgerdam Racing Club, was in it, we were in the finals! Yes, it’s not like we were in the World Cup, but it sure did feel that way,” he adds with an innocent smile. “And what’s more – we won the final,” Martijn continues, sounding like he’d just stepped off the field.
But before you think this is a scene out of ‘All Stars’, here comes the sorry twist to the tale – there were only a handful of people to witness Martijn’s greatest moment in life.
And so with T-Mobile Relax’s rollover credit, Martijn’s using his extra minutes and texts to organise a re-match of that Championship Final. He’s now attempting to bring together his old team from 1997, convince his opponents to re-play that match (a chance for them to avenge their previous loss), and most importantly ensure that there are more than three people to witness the match this time around.
With seven TV ads, Hyves and a dedicated YouTube Channel that keeps you updated on the progress thanks to the videos shot by Martijn’s girlfriend, here’s a story of an ordinary man finding the road to realising his extraordinary dream.
