New York - Saatchi & Saatchi X worldwide CEO Andy Murray has announced the appointment of Barney Hylton to the newly created role of Regional CEO, Asia Pacific, Saatchi & Saatchi X.
Previously Regional Business Director across 11 Asian markets at OgilvyAction, Tokyo, he has close to a decade's experience in the Asia-Pacific region. He will report directly to Mr. Murray and be part of the Saatchi & Saatchi X Global Leadership Team.
"Shopper Marketing is a global phenomenon and we have experienced strong interest from China, Korea, India and Japan in providing comprehensive services across the Asia-Pacific region," said Mr. Murray. "Acquiring a retail expert with the ability to further drive scale and growth is important for us. Barney is an entrepreneurial talent with experience in through-the-line integrated solutions for clients - that's critical as point-of-sale decision making is surging."
Mr. Hylton said he was delighted to join the company and commented on the challenge facing the region.
"Asia 2008 in Shopper Marketing is similar to Asia 1999 in the CRM space - a rush of agencies entering the market with intention and some capability but without real pedigree. I'm excited to join Andy's team at Saatchi & Saatchi X because they are distinct. The depth of experience forged over a decade in the US and EU is unparalleled & knowledge of shopper insights and engagement solutions make Saatchi & Saatchi X a critical partner to leaders in retailing and FMCG sectors. With such a diverse retail environment in Asia and clients at varying stages of Shopper Marketing adoption it's critical that they get both highly qualified, actionable advice on their needs".
Mr. Hylton started in his new position on October 27, 2008.
